Advice on cleansing

Lately, I've been wondering whether my hair is truly clean after washes. After washing, I still see little white clumps of dandruff at the base of the lock and new growth, sort of imbedded into the lock. Once my hair dries, it becomes really noticeable. I question whether the Sisterlocks shampoo is a good cleanser. I went to Aveda over the weekend and the sales associate recommended the sap moss shampoo for cleansing locks. I'm thinking of using it today since I'm going for a retightening tomorrow. Has anyone had the same issue? Are there any other products that you recommend? Posted by Picasa

I have had my locks for 3.5 years and I am still looking for a good shampoo that really cleans and conditions the locks. If you find something, let me know. Someone suggested the IC products but I have not tried them yet.

The Aveda Sap Moss shampoo worked pretty well. I didn't see the same white clumps on my roots after washing this time. I may have stumbled on to something new!

Well, I'm a big fan of vinegar myslef. It's cheap, effective, and works like a charm. It is excellent for removing product buildup and dandruff/flakiness/anything else that may get stuck in your hair. I used to use it as a final rinse, but my boyfriend balked at the smell. So, now I spray it in for about half an hour before I wash my hair. I put a plastic cap on it and rinse it out when i get in the shower. I use a 50/50 vinegar water solution.

Try it and let me know how it goes1!
